An excellent choice is a hike through the fir forest of Parnassus, in the heart of the national park. From the entrance of the village, the visitor follows the E4 path (Agoriani – Delphi) and halfway through it meets the cave of Eptastomos. From the seven gates of the cave, the wind passes, and the noise that is created justifies the theory of the ancient Greeks that this point was one of Hades’s entrances.

View from the Corycian cave
- If you feel like a shorter hike you may consider a visit at the Corycian cave or Cave of Panas (Korykio Andro) which is half way between Arachova and Eptalofos, on the slope overlooking Livadi (aka Kalyvia). You may park the car at Panagia Church and follow the one kilometer uphill path to the cave.
- On you way back to the city, if you feel like a small detour towards Lamia you can take advantage of the warm waters of Psoroneria, next to the village of Damasta, on the side street of Lamia – Athens National Road. Access is free, there is plenty of parking and little attention is needed on your personal items.
- If you choose the way back to Athens through Arachova but still have time for some additional sightseeing, you can visit Osios Loukas a well-kept and respectfully preserved monastery, one of the most significant monuments of Byzantine art, thanks to the decorative mosaics. For this reason UNESCO has included this monastery to the list of the world’s heritage monuments.
